FAQ Hypnosis and NLP

Q: What will it feel like to be hypnotised?

A: You'll feel relaxed, and aware of your surroundings and everything that is being said and explained to you. You'll be in control all the time. It will be an enjoyable and rejuvenating experience for you.

Q: I've seen stage hypnosis and concerned I'll be asked to do or say things that'll embarrass me - will I?

A: One of the most common concerns I get relates to so-called "mind control", and is caused by the tremendous disservice many stage hypnosis acts have done to the therapeutic value of hypnosis in tackling serious life problems.

I will not attempt, nor can I, force you to do anything against your will. This is one of the myths, caused by unethical stage hypnosis performers, that a person has complete power over what you do. This is just not true, and in our sessions together you'll remain in control all the time

Q : Will I lose control?

Hypnosis will enable you to enter into a deep state of relaxation and comfort in which you will become even more aware of your surroundings and what you are doing. Control stays with you totally.

Q: What is NLP?

A: NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It's a way of tapping into your natural predispositions to effect changes in your habits. Combined with the power of hypnosis it provides you with a winning team for beating your struggles.

Some people call NLP the study of excellence. It began with the work of highly talented and successful therapists such as Milton H Erickson and Virginia Satir. NLP offers many tools to make fast, comfortable and effective changes to match your needs in the areas you wish to address - changes which will assist your personal growth and above all enhance your place in the world and your role in life now and in the future.

Therapy using NLP and the power of hypnosis enhances the speed of your desired changes, making them both comfortable and empowering. Your unconscious mind can only work in your best interests and safety and when we work with this your limits are limitless.

Freeing you of phobias, fears, unwanted habits such as smoking, eating disorders, insomnia or anything you wish to change. I will work with you, guide you and support you to change quickly and comfortably.

The speed at which you change the unwanted behaviour will be only as quick as you are able to do so.

FAQ Callanetics

Is The Callanetics Exercise Method a weight loss program?

Not directly. Callanetics increases lean body mass resulting in higher per hour metabolic burn rate of calories. This can profoundly restrict the body's tendency to produce fat tissue and may even cause your body to burn fat for energy once your muscles become more toned and your resting metabolic rate has increased. Because of the unique toning abilities of Callanetics exercises, which cause a tremendous pulling in, and re-shaping of your body so quickly, it gives the appearance of significant weight loss. Women commonly lose two sizes without any weight loss at all.

Does being out of shape matter?

NO! The genius of Callanetics is that it works for everyone, regardless of fitness level.

Is it safe to do everyday?

Yes, it is safe to do everyday but it is best to allow the body 1-2 days of rest per week. This enables your body to have more available energy on the days you work out.

Do I need to be coordinated to do these exercises?

No, in fact doing The Callanetics Exercise Method will give you better balance, coordination and body awareness. It is designed to work on anyone and does!

Do I need any special equipment to do these exercises?

No, they are designed to use your body’s positioning as resistance and specific body parts as weights so you can do them anywhere anytime all you need is YOU!

Is there a lot of jumping and jarring in Cardio Callanetics?

No there isn’t any jumping or jarring in fact, you can do the program in bare feet! It stays true to Callan’s philosophy of meditation in motion combining the fluidity of ballet and yoga into a rhythmic workout which is done slower so you get a fuller range of motion that is safer and burns more fat than traditional low impact aerobics. Callan’s years of ballet training had a tremendous influence on the program and to watch it you get the idea that it is not much of a workout but once you try it, you immediately feel the demand on your muscles and the fat melting off!  Many who complained of being uncoordinated say they feel so graceful when doing this program and that their balance increased significantly. Also, there are three levels of intensity to follow so no matter what level you are you will know just what to do.

FAQ Yoga

How many times per week should I attend yoga class?

Yoga is amazing—even if you only practice for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice. If you can do more than that, you will certainly experience more benefits. Don't let time constraints or unrealistic goals be an obstacle—do what you can and don't worry about it. You will likely find that after awhile your desire to practice expands naturally and you will find yourself doing more and more.

How is yoga class is different from stretching or other kinds of fitness?

Unlike stretching or fitness, yoga is more than just physical postures. Even within the physical practice, yoga is unique because we connect the movement of the body and the fluctuations of the mind to the rhythm of our breath. Connecting the mind, body, and breath helps us to direct our attention inward. Through this process of inward attention, we learn to recognize our habitual thought patterns without labelling them, judging them, or trying to change them. We become more aware of our experiences from moment to moment. The awareness that we cultivate is what makes yoga a practice, rather than a task or a goal to be completed. Your body will most likely become much more flexible by doing yoga, and so will your mind.

Is yoga a religion?

Yoga is not a religion. It is a philosophy that began in India an estimated 5,000 years ago. Yoga sometimes interweaves other philosophies such as Hinduism or Buddhism, but it is not necessary to study those paths in order to practice or study yoga.

It is not necessary to surrender your own religious beliefs to practice yoga.

I'm not flexible—can I do yoga classes?

Yes! You are a perfect candidate for yoga. Many people think that they need to be flexible to begin yoga, but that's a little bit like thinking that you need to be able to play tennis in order to take tennis lessons. Come as you are and you will find that instruction and guidance will help you become more flexible.

This newfound agility will be balanced by strength, coordination, and enhanced cardiovascular health, as well as a sense of physical confidence and overall well-being.

What do I need to begin?

All you really need to begin practicing yoga is your body, your mind, and a bit of curiosity. But it is also helpful to have a pair of sweat pants, leggings, or shorts, and a t-shirt that's not too baggy. No special footgear is required because you will be barefoot. It's nice to bring a blanket to class with you. As your practice develops you might want to buy your own yoga mat, but there are some mats and other props available for you.

Why are you supposed to refrain from eating two to three hours before class?

In yoga classes we twist from side to side, turn upside down, and bend forward and backward. If you have not fully digested your last meal, it will make itself known to you in ways that are not comfortable. If you are a person with a fast-acting digestive system and are afraid you might get hungry or feel weak during yoga class, experiment with a light snack such as yogurt, a few nuts, or juice about 30 minutes to an hour before class.
